Statue of Acropolis
Your perfect body
An inseparable part of the marble
There amidst the immured women
Naked in front of you
They feel embarrassed.
How much I would want to touch you
To feel the heat.
How much I would want to caress you
To feel the love.
But my thoughts were abruptly
By the damn ring of your phone.
A night in Thessaloniki
It is magical the night in Thessaloniki.
Streets are buzzing by the cars
Running away and getting lost
On the horizon
chased by time.
The shore full of life
With people sipping their coffees
In the bars
Walking on the side walks
Getting relief from the stress of the day.
White Tower silent
For centuries keep record of sunsets.
History, the monuments covered by
The dust of time
Do not speak any more.
Far away in the open sea
The lights of the ships are
The dancing fireflies.
Up in the sky
The airplanes are the birds returning
To their nests.
The same CAFÉ
I’m back again to have a coffee
In this simple bar
Without any glittering luxury
Where once during the hot summer days
We’re quenching the thirst.
I came to have a drink
With my old friends
The good, the wise, the grizzled men.
The years slowly are putting
The meetings off,
There is no hurry to say good bye.
Silently, one by one with one way ticket
the eternal journey they have taken.
Nothing is left here,
Only nostalgia and the sweet memory
Of endless toasts.
How much time is needed
For your stopped calendar,
Who knows where it’s still hanging,
To look at the days ahead?
After each sheet removed
When will you really understand it?
On all the dates you put your finger
But no one answered you.
They are mute on this cold winter day
when the Old year leaves the place
To the New one.
They are imprisoned, bandaged wounds
Like embalmed mummies in the museum.
History can not celebrate with them.
The past, old but cheerful
On her knees observes with sceptical eyes.
